Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 8, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Superbasic Finance uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies. In short: we use a small number of functional technologies and privacy-focused, cookieless analytics — no advertising or cross-site tracking.
What these technologies are
Cookies are small text files a website can store in your browser. Related technologies, such as local storage, let a site remember a small amount of information on your device. We use a minimal set of these technologies, and only for the purposes described below.
On our marketing website
Our marketing website at superbasicfinance.com does not set advertising or tracking cookies. It stores a single preference — your chosen color theme — in your browser’s local storage so the site looks the way you left it. This preference stays on your device and is not sent to us.
We use Plausible Analytics to measure aggregate traffic trends such as page views, referring pages, approximate country, browser, and device type. Plausible does not set analytics cookies, use local storage or persistent identifiers, or create cross-site profiles. Like any web request, an analytics request includes an IP address and user agent. Plausible uses those values transiently with a rotating daily salt to count aggregate daily visitors and states that it does not store the raw values.
The newsletter form on our blog sends the email address you type to us when you submit it. It does not set a cookie and does not track you across pages. How we handle that address is described in our Privacy Policy.
In the application
Our application at app.superbasicfinance.com uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies so it can function. These are essential — the app cannot keep you signed in or remember your context without them.
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session | Keeps you signed in securely. Set as httpOnly so it
cannot be read by JavaScript. | Strictly necessary | 7 days, refreshed as you keep using the app; cleared on sign-out |
sbf-workspace-id, sbf-workspace-user-id | Remember which workspace you are viewing and tie that selection to your signed-in account, so a different account never inherits it. | Strictly necessary / functional | 1 year, or when you sign out |
theme | Remembers your light/dark appearance choice. | Functional | 1 year |
sbf-home-selection | Remembers the workspace and the accounts you last had selected so the home screen opens on the same accounts. | Functional | 1 year |
sbf-onboarding-return | Set only while you are waiting on a confirmation email during sign-up, so the link returns you to the right step. | Strictly necessary | 1 hour |
None of these cookies are used for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking, and none are shared with a third party for those purposes. Because they are necessary or purely functional, we do not ask for consent to set them; you can still clear them in your browser at any time.
Third-party processors
Plausible processes aggregate marketing-site analytics without setting cookies. Other features rely on third parties that may set their own cookies when you interact with them — for example, Plaid when you connect a bank, Stripe when you make a payment, Cloudflare Turnstile during sign-in, and your identity provider during social sign-in. Those cookies are governed by the respective third party’s policies. See our Privacy Policy and Plaid & Data Connection Policy for more.
Managing cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and clear local storage there as well. Because the cookies we use in the app are strictly necessary, blocking them will prevent you from signing in or using core features. Clearing or blocking the marketing site’s local storage simply means your theme choice will not be remembered. Plausible does not store analytics information on your device, so browser cookie controls do not apply to that analytics processing.
