Terms of Service
Last updated: August 8, 2026
These Terms of Service are a binding agreement between you and Superbasic Finance. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Superbasic Finance website, applications, and services (the “Service”), provided by Superbasic Finance, a service operated by Superbasic Finance (“Superbasic Finance,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. The Service is intended for personal and household money management by residents of the United States, and currently supports U.S. financial institutions. Personal and household use includes sharing a workspace with people you invite, such as a partner or family member. It does not include reselling the Service, using it to manage money on behalf of clients, or using it as part of another product or service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. What Superbasic Finance is — and is not
Superbasic Finance is a personal finance tool that helps you view, organize, and annotate your own financial information. It is provided for informational and personal money-management purposes only.
Superbasic Finance is not a bank and is not a money transmitter, broker-dealer, investment adviser, tax adviser, or financial planner. We do not hold your funds, move money, or provide financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. We are not insured by the FDIC or any government agency. Nothing in the Service is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any financial product. You are responsible for your own financial decisions and should consult a qualified professional where appropriate.
4. Your account
To use most features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your credentials confidential, and to be responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@superbasicfinance.com if you suspect unauthorized use. We may require you to verify your email address to access certain features, such as connecting a bank.
5. Connecting financial accounts
The Service lets you connect financial institutions through our data provider, Plaid. By connecting an account, you authorize us and Plaid to access and retrieve information from that institution on your behalf, and you represent that you are the authorized holder of the accounts you connect. Your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid’s terms and privacy policy. See our Plaid & Data Connection Policy for details. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or actions of any financial institution or of Plaid.
6. Subscriptions and billing
Some features require a paid subscription billed per connected bank. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges through our payment processor, Stripe. All subscription details — including pricing, slots, renewals, proration, and cancellation — are described in our Subscription & Billing Terms, which are part of these Terms.
7. Your content
You retain all rights to the information and content you add to the Service, including manual entries, imported files, notes, and organizational data (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and the people you share workspaces with. You are responsible for Your Content and for having the rights to provide it.
Some parts of the Service are shared with other people who use it. If you post to our feedback board, that post and its votes become visible to other users once we publish the post, and you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and act on it for the purpose of running the Service and improving the product. Do not include private financial details in a public post. We review posts before publication and may edit, reorder, decline, or remove them, and we may keep a published post on the board with your name removed after you delete your account.
8. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms. Among other things, you may not misuse, disrupt, reverse engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, text, and branding (but excluding Your Content and third-party materials), is owned by Superbasic Finance and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the Service except as expressly permitted.
10. Third-party services
The Service integrates with third parties such as Plaid, Stripe, and authentication providers. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services and disclaim liability for their acts or omissions.
11. Mobile apps and app stores
If you download our iOS or Android app, your use of it is also subject to the rules of the store you obtained it from. The license in these Terms is granted to you for use on devices you own or control, as those store rules permit.
For the iOS app: these Terms are between you and Superbasic Finance, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Superbasic Finance, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, regulatory, and intellectual-property claims. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government prohibited-party list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms as they apply to the iOS app, and may enforce them against you.
12. Electronic communications and notices
By using the Service, you consent to receive communications from us electronically — by email to the address on your account, or through notices in the app — and you agree that these satisfy any legal requirement that a communication be in writing. This includes account, security, billing, and policy notices. You are responsible for keeping your email address current. Transactional messages of this kind are part of the Service and cannot be turned off while your account is open; optional newsletters and alerts can be turned off separately. To send us a legal notice, use the details on our Contact & Support page.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that financial data displayed will always be accurate, complete, or up to date. Account and transaction data is provided by third parties and may be delayed or incorrect. You should verify important information with your financial institution.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Superbasic Finance and its operators, officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Superbasic Finance and its operators from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
16. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — such as content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will survive. Deleting your account does not by itself entitle you to a refund; see our Subscription & Billing Terms and Data Deletion page.
17. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may modify or discontinue features of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms; when we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in that jurisdiction, and you consent to their personal jurisdiction and venue. This does not limit your right to bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court, or to bring a claim where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to do so elsewhere.
19. General
These Terms, together with the policies referenced in them, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
